New bird!

“WE GOT A SOLITAIRE!” I whispered/yelled into teh house, hurrying to get teh main picture-taker as soon teh bird flew in.

“Aww, he’s all alone…”

Ha ha.

And nope, never saw one up here before, not within miles. Must’ve been teh snow/cold that brought him in. Already maybe 10″ of new white stuff, and looks like more on teh way. Temperature? Well, so cold that peanut butter freezes solid in 10 minutes.

Teh solitaire sat a while in an aspen and then disappeared.

Put out apples, cranberries, soft crackers, peanut butter, just in case he comes back.

Meanwhile, teh feeders are bustling with teh usual crowd of bitin’, fightin’ Stellers’ jays, mt and black-capped chickadees, red-breasted nuthatches, 4 kinds of juncos, and teh lovely pine grosbeaks.

Here’s Matt’s pic of our new friend:

How cute is he! She? Who cares, absolutely adorable!

A couple of weeks ago I heard a racket coming from the fig tree. Figured it was just the LBB’s, but I took a peek anyway. Little tiny olive colored birds with white eye rings…I grabbed my Peterson’s.

Not a wren, not a “confusing fall warbler”…kinglets! Never saw one before. Cute!

Oh wow, COOL! Love kinglets! Ruiuby-crowned are my faves, such loud pretty voices from such ittyy bitty guys, have to relearn them every year.

Oh man, Little Red, been lost in knitting/crocheting land. Eventually will post a pic of Santa’s workshop output, even I’m amazed.

LOVE teh Malabrigo yarn, Moebius cowls, knit up in one night :)

Only problem is teh carpal tunnel stuff has kicked in again, wake up five times a night with painful pins & needles. But still knitting lol. It’s a freakin’ addiction. I forgot…

I’m jealous…I’m not going to get any of my holiday crocheting done this year. I found out I need to have surgery and it looks like it’ll be scheduled somewhere between Christmas and New Year’s. Everything’ s going to be fine, but I’m just exhausted.

Malabrigo’s great stuff! I’m also a big fan of Manos Rittenhouse and Madelinetosh. Yum! Can’t wait to see the pictures! :)

Oh no, LittleRed! Hope it’s minor stuff, though is anything with word “surgery” connected ‘minor’? Hang in there! Hope it’s a speedy recovery.

And good thinking on timing… now there’s an excuse to get out of cookie baking/snowflake crocheting/Moebius knitting that no one can argue with ;)

Love and warm thoughts coming your way XXXOOO
