Christmas coming!

Oh boy, I sure love Christmas!

Haven’t started baking cookies yet, and may not get there.

But our tree is up (top of one of teh pines that toppled in teh windstorm; this one fell on teh guy wire for teh wind turbine, gah; luckily, it laid itself down very nicely and caused no problems). Lights are up. Working on presents for friends and family.

Luckily, Santa’s Workshop has a great window, looking out on the bird feeders on teh porch.

We were thrilled when a magpie showed up in teh yard a few wks ago. He stuck around on teh fringes and ate meat scraps we set on top of one of teh Volvos, but wouldn’t come up on porch.

Until yesterday morning, when I put out the remains of a pot roast. He couldn’t resist :)

What a great picture. Paul keeps asking me if I should put out leftover pasta for our birds, but I really don’t want to feed the raccoons, opossums (which I love since they’re so freaky looking!) and other members of the rodent family.

Let me ask you a question…we were driving back from the supermarket a few weekends back, and a little grey thing ran across the road. It was about the size of a rabbit, basically hairless with floppy ears like a guinea pig. And, it had a stubby little tail with a stubby little nose…and big eyes.

I think it’s way, way too big to be a mole…any ideas?

Wow, totally missed this, Little Red!

Uh… Tasmanian Devil? Jersey Devil who took a wrong turn at teh Pine Barrens?

    No clue.

We had a weird one a week ago or so, too, coming back in dark, about 40 mis from home, two poor dead critters on a back road. Thought they were possums from a distance (no possums around here, so was very excited), then as we passed, they turned into what I think were rabbits. Pale, almost whitish. Houses & ranches around, so maybe escaped pets :(
